Republic of Ireland WEEE & Battery Regulations

Irish Battery Recycling

As part of our commitment to ensure batteries are disposed of responsibly after use, the following free of charge option is available. Waste batteries can be returned free of charge to a local authority facility or to our authorised representatives’ premises at Leaf Environmental Ltd., Unit 10 Sunshine Industrial Estate, Crumlin Road, Dublin 12, Ireland D12 FT89, provided the batteries are the equivalent type sold by us.

We take recycling of batteries seriously. Some household batteries contain chemicals like lead, mercury or cadmium. If batteries are disposed of in your normal waste bin, they are likely to end up in landfill. When the batteries are put into landfill they start to breakdown and can leak some of the chemicals into the ground. This can cause soil and water pollution, which may lead to health risks. Recycling avoids this and can also recover some of the raw materials used for making batteries. These can be used to make other products. The result of recycling means we can save some of the planet’s resources by reducing the need to mine new materials.

Irish WEEE Recycling

Customers wishing to dispose of B2C waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) when it reaches the end of its life, can do so for free of charge on a one-for-one, like for like basis by informing customer services when ordering a new product. OxiPro Medical Ltd will also notify you 24 hours in advance of delivery. If the end-of-life product is not available for collection when the new product is delivered, we will arrange for it to be collected within 15 days of delivery of your new product.

OxiPro Medical Ltd is committed to meeting the requirements of the European Union (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Regulations 2014. These Regulations require producers of electrical and electronic equipment to finance the takeback of WEEE resulting from products that we place on the Irish market. This helps us to ensure that WEEE is reused or recycled safely. In line with that commitment, we will take back WEEE from you.

Returned WEEE is sent to an authorised treatment facility where it is treated and disposed of in an environmentally sound way. Alternatively, you can take the item to our authorised representatives’ premises at Leaf Environmental Ltd., Unit 10 Sunshine Industrial Estate, Crumlin Road, Dublin 12, Ireland D12 FT89. You may also take B2C WEEE items to your local authority civic amenity facility who take back B2C WEEE free of charge.

You have a role to play in ensuring that WEEE is reused and recycled safely. You should not dispose of it in your bin. The crossed out wheeled bin symbol on the product reminds users not to dispose of WEEE in the bin. You should ensure that the WEEE is collected separately and sent for proper treatment. WEEE contains hazardous substances and if not managed and treated safely it can cause pollution and damage human health.

Price of electrical items includes a contribution to recycling costs.

All WEEE and waste batteries must be recycled and should not be placed in your waste disposal or recycling bins.
